    Bike marking events in Leith and North Edinburgh 

    Bike Marking will be taking place at the following venues.

    Bikes are becoming increasingly expensive and bike marking is a way of assisting Police in identifying stolen bikes and returning these valuable items to their owners.

     

    Those attending will also be given crime prevention advice and have any questions answered.

    Thursday 24th May 12-2pm Craigleith Retail Park

    Tuesday 5th June: Ocean Terminal, 5-7 pm

    Saturday 9th June: Leith Gala Day, Leith Links, 11-2 pm and  5-7 pm

    Tuesday 12th June: Leith Library, 12 – 2 pm

    Sun 17th June Victoria Park 2-5 pm

    Thurs 21st June 12-2pm North Housing Office

    Saturday 11th August: Ocean Terminal, 11 – 2 pm

    Wed 11th July 5-7 pm Ainslie Park Leisure Centre

    Park Smart Leith, safer parking around schools

    The Park Smart Initiative aims to improve road safety around our local schools, particularly at pick up and drop off times. It educates parents and carers about the need for careful driving and raises awareness of such issues as the requirement for appropriate car seats for children. The initiative will have an education phase followed by an enforcement phase at a later date. The initial phase will be occurring at:

    Lorne Primary School – 16th May
    St. Mary’s Primary School – 29th May

    Officers keen to to trace a silver or white Volkswagen Transporter van after golf club theft 

    Volkswagen Transporter vanLothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses following a theft from a golf course in East Lothian.

    The incident happened sometime between 3.15pm and 5.30pm on Saturday 12 May at the Gullane Golf Club.

    A six-man golfing party had finished their round and stored their clubs within a black Mercedes Viano car while they went into the clubhouse.

    Upon returning to the vehicle, the men found that five of the golf bags, which also contained items of clothing, had been stolen and contacted police.

    Officers are now asking anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

    The value of the stolen items is between £10,000 and £11,000.

    A police spokesman said: “The victims are tourists on holiday from the Netherlands and have been left utterly distraught at the theft of their valuable golf clubs.

    “Patrons and staff who remember seeing anything suspicious in or around the car park of the golf course are asked to contact police immediately.

    “We are also keen to trace a silver or white Volkswagen Transporter van, which was seen near to the victims’ car around the time of the theft.

    “Anyone who can help us locate this vehicle or its driver should also get in touch.”

    Victory parade routes revealed for Scottish Cup winners 

    Hearts and Hibs club badges

    Hibs and Hearts have announced plans for their victory parade in Edinburgh should they win the Scottish Cup next weekend.

    The two teams will clash at a historic all Edinburgh Final at on 19th May, the first time they have met in the final since 1896,when the final was held at Logie Green, the home of St Bernard’s FC, who were the previous holders of the trophy.

    The winners will then parade the cup in an open-top bus through the city the following day.

    For both teams the victory parade will start at 2pm on Sunday 20 May , outside the City Chambers.

    If Hibs win, the route to Easter Road will be via North Bridge, Leith Street, and London Road.

    If Hearts win, the open top bus will head to Johnston Terrace, Morrison Street, Dalry Road and Gorgie Road, before arriving at Tynecastle.

    Fans will be able to carry on the celebrations at a free-of-charge event at either Easter Road or Tynecastle.
